Definition of rich

Ah Kau is a guy who sells newspaper every morning next to your apartment, and you are one of his daily regular customers. Before dashing off to your office every day, you will go to his small stall and buy The Star newspaper. Wearing a newly pressed shirt, a tie, and a pair of Clarks shoes, you grab a copy of The Star, pay RM1.20 and exchange smiles with Ah Kau and greet him.

"Apa macam Ah Kau ini hari? Bisnes ada baik?"

The normal greeting like you do every day. Yes, Ah Kau doesn't speak English. He speaks Chinese and knows a little bit of Malay. He speaks a little bit of Malay but with a very thick Chinese accent.

"Biasa saja! ini bisnes aa, kadang kadang baik, kadang kadang tada untung."
"Biasalah hidup. Kadang kadang ok, kadang kadang tak ok." You give Ah Kau a pat on the back."

You smile and walk away and get into your car.
You start the engine and start driving to your office, a multinational semiconductor company located in a premier industrial area. You are a young and promising finance executive and the future looks bright for you.

A year goes by and things look pretty good on the track. You decide to marry your fiance and have your new wife moves in to your place. Both of you feel happy because you can save more money as the two of you will be sharing one apartment and can live as one. Ah Kau is still selling the newspaper as usual. Sometimes in the morning your wife gets the newspaper from Ah Kau instead of you.

A year later a child comes along, and you decide to buy and move into a newly developed condominium just across the street. This place is bigger so it will be perfectly fit for the 3 of you. But since both of you are working, you decide to get a maid to take of the household and your kid.

By this time you're offered a managerial job from another multinational; the remuneration package offered is much better in terms of the pay, contractual bonus, medical benefits, ESOS scheme and a few others which make it impossible for you to decline. So you join this company happily.

You get busier. You realize that you spend less and less time with your family. When your department is busy preparing for the next audit, your working hours become more and more ridiculous. Any internal issues arising in the office means you'll be stuck in the office until 8 or 9 pm. Sometimes, during the weekend, you'll spend your time in your office, buried under paper works and documentation' s, instead of taking your family for a walk in the park.

One morning, on your way to get your copy of The Star, you realized that Ah Kau is no longer in his stall. So is his rundown motorbike. Instead, there's another young Chinese guy at the stall.

"What happen to Ah Kau?" You ask out of curiosity.
"Oh, he is still around, but he is no longer taking care of this stall as he has opened up a new grocery shop down town. I am running this newspaper stall for him."
"Ok." you smile. You feel happy for Ah Kau. At last he manages to improve his life.

Your normal life continues. A year passes by and at the end of your company's fiscal year, you're rewarded for your effort with a 5 months bonus pay-out by your employer. Wow. Now that is a very handsome reward.

You feel your effort has been equally compensated. To celebrate, you decide that it's time to trade your 5-year old Proton Wira to the latest Honda Civic model. It won't be much a problem to you to get a loan scheme from the bank as your pay slip will provide you an easy gateway to access financial help from any bank.

One day, the hardest reality of life hits you right on the face. The company that you've been working for years announces that they're moving their business to China for cost and competitive reason and has asked you to find a job somewhere else. "What?" You scream out cold. "I got a lot of liabilities on the card! Who's gonna pay for my mortgage? My car?
My credit card? My gym fees? My bills?" You yell like there's no way out.

This is the first time you feel let down by your own employer. All your hard work seem to go up on the smoke. You feel sick. You now hate your company. On the way home, you stopped by at a mamak restaurant for a cup of teh tarik while pondering about your future.
Alone.

Suddenly you saw this new, shiny BMW 3 series being parked nearby. And to your surprise, it was Ah Kau. Yes, Ah Kau who used to sell newspapers nearby your old apartment. "What happened to old Ah Kau?" You whisper to your self.

Ah Kau still recognizes you, and sit next to you, and shared his story.
To make it short, Ah Kau had accumulated his money from selling newspapers to open more stalls, one after another. Every new stall is run by his workers so that he focused on opening more and more stalls, which in turn give him more and more money. Over the years, he had accumulated enough cash to open up new grocery store while at the same time buying more assets to grow his wealth. And his current wealth and success is achieved without any loan or financial help from banks and other financial institutions. There you go. That's the story. While Ah Kau is set to become financially free, you're back to where you're started before. Ground zero .

Before leaving, Ah Kau gives you a familiar quote,
" Biasalah hidup. Kadang kadang ok, kadang kadang tak ok."

He gives you a pat on the back and walks away.
In reality, if you're observant enough, there are a lot of Ah Kaus out there, that you will see every day and every where you go. The names are different, but inside them is every character of Ah Kau. They might be Uncle Dorai, Ah Chong, Pak Abu, Makcik Gemuk, Pak Man nasi lemak or others.

They look to be struggling on the surface, but if you look carefully and compare with you life, many of them are living with little or no liabilities. They ride an old kapcai bike. They live in an old rundown house. They don't have credit card to swipe. They wear a 10-year old shirt and short. No new, shiny Toyota Harrier. In short, their living means are far below than yours. But what you don't realize is that many of them can save more money than yours, and over the years generate enough money to expand their business, or invest in properties. Their asset columns are much thicker than that of yours.

So the next time you see Ah Kaus, never look down on them, and never underestimate them. Or else you're up for a harsh reality lesson.

Food Of Thought - September Edition

IT’S A SURE THING THAT YOU’LL NOT FINISH IF YOU DON’T START.

An ancient proverb says, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." You have probably known people nearing the end of their life’s journey who looked back and said, "If only I had done things differently . . . . .If only I had taken advantage of that opportunity when it came along." Unfulfilled lives are filled with "if only"s. They are the refrain of the timid souls whose lives were finished before they ever really got started. Life is filled with many opportunities-for great successes and spectacular failures. It is up to you to seize the initiative, to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way. You are condemned to a life of mediocrity-unless you get into action. Don’t delay; do it today!

OPPORTUNITY HAS A QUEER WAY OT STALKING THE PERSON WHO CAN RECOGNIZE IT AND IS READY TO EMBRACE IT.

It is a curious quirk of human nature that some people can see opportunities, while others only see problems. When you train your mind to seek out opportunities, you will find that every day literally presents you with more opportunities than you can take advantage of. They will be all around you. Instead of your seeking opportunities, they will seek you out. Your biggest problem will be choosing the best ones. The first step in making sure you are ready to recognize opportunities when they occur is to make sure you have a clear understanding of your own core competencies. Realistically assess your strengths and weaknesses as though you were reviewing the credentials of a total stranger. Identify what areas you’re best in and those where you need improvement. Work on your weaknesses and build upon your strengths so that when you recognize opportunities you are prepared to capitalize upon them.

THOSE WHO ARE QUICK TO SEE THEIR LIMITATIONS GENERALLY ARE SLOW IN SEEING THEIR OPPORTUNITIES.

Movie producer Michael Todd once said, "Being broke is temporary; being poor is a state of mind." So it is with opportunity. Whether you see opportunities or limitations is entirely within your control. How you view the world is a reflection of your mental attitude. If you focus on your inadequacies, you will be plagued by fear, doubt, and failure, but when you focus on your strengths, you will find courage, confidence, and success. Self-confidence can replace self-doubt only by deliberate, planned effort. When you start to doubt your capabilities, pause to review your previous accomplishments. Identify every experience that might be helpful to you in your present situation. When you apply the knowledge and wisdom you have accumulated, there are few limitations that you cannot overcome.capitalize upon them.

3 Q & A ...bout GOD !

A young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholaror any expert who could answer his 3 Questions.
Finally, his parents were able to find a scholar.

Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?
Scholar: I am one of God willing, I will be able to answer your questions.

Young man: Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not ableto answer my questions.
Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of God .

Young Man: I have 3 questions:
1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape.
2. What is fate?
3. If Devil was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrownto hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him atall, since Devil and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think ofit this far?

Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man's face very hard.
YoungMan(feeling pain): Why do you get angry at me?

Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your three questions.
Young Man: I really don't understand.

Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?
Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain.

Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?
Young Man: Yes.

Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!
Young Man: I cannot.

Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape... Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?
Young Man: No.

Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?
Young Man: No.

Scholar: That is fate my second answer........ My hand that I used toslap you, what is it created from?
Young Man: It is created from flesh.

Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?
Young Man: Flesh.

Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?
Young Man: In pain.

Scholar: That's it... this is my third answer, Even though Devil and alsothe hell were created from the fire, if God wants,God willing , the hell will become a very painful place for devil.

Moral behind this....

A long time ago in China, a girl named Li-Li got married &
Went to live with her husband and mother-in-law. In a very short time,

Li-Li found that she couldn't get along with her mother-in-law at all.

Their personalities were very different, and Li-Li was angered by
Many of her mother-in-law's habits. In addition, she criticized Li-Li
Constantly.

Days passed and weeks passed. Li-Li and her mother-in-law
Never stopped arguing and fighting. But what made the situation even
Worse was that,

According to ancient Chinese tradition, Li-Li had to bow
To her mother-in-law and obey her every wish. All the anger and
Unhappiness in the house was causing Li-Li's poor husband great distress.

Finally, Li-Li could not stand her mother-in-law's bad temper
And dictatorship any longer, and she decided to do something about
It.

Li-Li went to see her father's good friend, Mr. Huang, who sold herbs.

She told him the situation and asked if he would give her some poison
So that she could solve the problem once and for all. Mr. Huang thought
For a while, and finally said, " Li-Li, I will help you solve your problem,
But you must listen to me and obey what I tell you."

Li-Li said, " Yes, Mr. Huang, I will do whatever you tell me to
Do."

Mr. Huang went into the back room, and returned in a few
Minutes with a package of herbs. He told Li-Li, " You can't use a quick-acting
Poison to get rid of your mother-in-law, because that would cause people
To become suspicious .

Therefore, I have given you a number of herbs that will slowly
Build up poison in her body. Every other day prepare some delicious meal and
Put a little of these herbs in her serving. Now, in order to make sure
That nobody suspect you when she dies.

You must be very careful to act very friendly towards her.

Don't argue with her, obey her every wish, and treat her like
A queen."

Li-Li was so happy. She thanked Mr. Huang and hurried home to
Start her plot of murdering her mother-in-law. Weeks went by and months
Went by, and every other day, Li-Li served the specially treated food to her

Mother-in-law. She remembered what Mr. Huang had said about
Avoiding suspicion, so she controlled her temper, obeyed her
Mother-in-law, and treated her like her own mother.

After six months had passed, the whole household had changed. Li-Li had
practiced controlling her temper so much that she found that she almost never
got mad or upset.

She hadn't had an argument with her mother-in-law in six
Months because she now seemed much kinder and easier to get along with. The

Mother-in-law's attitude toward Li-Li changed, and she began to love Li-Li
Like her own daughter. She kept telling friends and relatives that Li-Li was the
Best daughter-in-law one could ever find. Li-Li and her mother-in-law
Were now treating each other like a real mother and daughter.

Li-Li's husband was very happy to see what was happening.

One day, Li-Li came to see Mr. Huang and asked for his help
Again.

She said, " Dear Mr. Huang, please help me to keep the poison from
Killing my mother-in-law! She's changed into such a nice woman, and I
Love her like my own mother. I do not want her to die because of the poison
I gave her."

Mr. Huang smiled and nodded his head. " Li-Li, there's
Nothing to worry about. I never gave you any poison. The herbs I gave
You were vitamins to improve her health. The only poison was in your
Mind and your attitude toward her, but that has been all washed away by the
Love which you gave to her."

HAVE YOU REALIZED that how you treat others is exactly how
They will treat you? There is a wise Chinese saying: " The person who loves
Others will also be loved in return."

God might be trying to work in another person's life through you

There should be a balance in life

Along time ago, there was an Emperor who told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area of land he has covered. Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop because he wanted to cover as much area as possible. Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself, "Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area? Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our Life. We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power and recognition. We neglect our health , time with our family and to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love. One day when we look back, we will realize that we don't really need that much , but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed. Life is not about making money, acquiring power or recognition . Life is definitely not about work! Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life. Life is a balance of Work and Play, Family and Personal time. You have to decide how you want to balance your Life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts. Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of Life, the whole aim of human existence. So, take it easy, do what you want to do and appreciate nature. Life is fragile, Life is short. Do not take Life for granted. Live a balanced lifestyle and enjoy Life!

Watch your thoughts ; they become words.
Watch your words ; they become actions.
Watch your actions ; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character .
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny .

Conquer Your Fear of Failure

The first time you tried to walk, you fell down. Let me ask you something...Are you now afraid of walking?
You've already failed many times, although you may not remember. And that's mainly because you've already conquered your fear of failure in those areas.

The next time you feel like quitting, remember this story:
At age 22 he failed in business; at age 23 he ran for state legislature and lost; at age 24 he failed in business again; at age 26 his sweetheart died and he was broken-hearted; at age 27 he had anervous breakdown; at age 34 he ran for Congress and lost; at age 39 he ran for Congress again, and lost again; at age 46 he ran for Senate and lost; at age 47 his ticket lost when he ran for Vice President; at age 49 he ran for Senate again, and lost again; at age 51 he ran and was elected as the President of the United States.

His name was Abraham Lincoln.

Make up your mind that if you try anything worthwhile, you will fail at it first.

Learn something, and try again.

Every baseball fan knows that Babe Ruth hit 714 home runs, but they probably won't be able to tell you that he struck out 1,330 times.

R.H. Macy failed in seven different business endeavors before his store in New York caught on

English novelist John Creasy got 753 rejection slips before he published his 564 books

Jonas Salk worked for fifteen years before he found the vaccine forpolio. That was FIFTEEN YEARS of CONTINUOUS FAILURE for ONE SUCCESS! But look at the benefit to mankind.

I suggest we revise one old adage to: "If something is worth doing,it's worth doing badly."

Anything you can do well the first time you try it is too simple to be of any consequence.

Several years ago, Columbia University was revising a part of the curriculum for their graduate business school and asked dozens of successful businessmen what the most important ingredient for success was.

The answer wasn't charisma, education, money, salesmanship, or leadership qualities.

It was persistence.

You don't learn much when you're successful, but you certainly learn when you do something wrong. Learn to look at your failures as learning experiences and you'll begin to almost look foreward to failing (almost).

Success and failure have the same root - the desire to achieve - but avoiding failure is not the same as achieving success.

Failure is determined by what you allow to happen, success by what you make happen.

It is extremely important to emphasize the concept of failure as a positive experience in your life. The only time failure becomes negative is when you stop the effort after the failure.

When you give up.

There's only one thing worse - not trying in the first place.

So don't worry about failure. Worry about the chances you miss when you don't even try.

Kuttappan Is So Famous !

Kuttappan was bragging to his Boss one day, "You know..... I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone important, and I'm sure I will know them."

Tired of his boasting, his Boss called his bluff, "OK, Kuttappan, how about Tom Cruise?" Kuttappan replies "Sure, yes, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it."

So Kuttappan and his Boss fly out to Hollywood and knock, on Tom Cruise's door and sure enough, Tom Cruise shouts," Hey Kutz!! Great to see you! You and your friend must come in and join me for lunch!"

They have a blast of a time. Katie Holmes even personally packs 2sets of Masala Dosas, which is of course specially made by their South Indian chef. They bid each other farewell. Although impressed, Kuttappan's Boss is still skeptical. After they leave Cruise's house, he tells Kuttappan that he thinks Kuttappan's knowing Cruise was just lucky. Kuttappan says "No, no, you go aheadand just name anyone else." "President Bush!" his Boss quickly retorts.

Kuttappan says "Yes, OK, but I am telling you I don't likehim very much, he is very cunning, anyway let's fly out to Washington."

And off they go. At the White House, Bush spots Kuttappan on the tour and motions him and his Boss over, saying, "Kuttans! What a surprise, I was just on my way to a meeting. The CIA just informed me Osama is heading for the Pakistan Border, Hey Kuttans, are you still on speaking terms with Osama, maybe you could confirm the information for me? Oh never mind! You and your friend come on in and let's havea cup of coffee first and catch up."

Well, the Boss is much shaken by now, but still not totally convinced. After they leave the White House grounds, he expresses his doubts to Kuttappan who again implores him to name anyone else. "ThePope!" his Boss replies. "Sure! This I like, I've been meaning to see him, he is not
keeping too well y'know" says Kuttappan. " And I have a lot of friends inVatican; it's like my second home! And me and the Pope go back a longway, surely this will be a good trip"So off they fly to Rome. Kuttappan and his Boss are assembled with the masses inVatican Squarewhen Kuttappan says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards, so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." The Boss shakes his head unbelievably and says "Yeahright!!"

Still so, Kuttappan disappears into the crowd, headed towards the Vatican. Sure enough, half an hour later Kuttappan emerges with the Pope on the balcony, waves to the crowds with the Pope and takesleave. But by the time Kuttappan returns, he finds that his Boss has had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics.Working his way to his Boss' side, Kuttappan asks him,
"What happened?"His Boss looks up and says, "I was doing fine until you and the Pope came out on the balcony and the man next to me said, and "Who's that on the balcony with Kuttappan?

Installing Love

*********************************
Installing Love

Tech Support: Yes, ... how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I've decided to install
Love. Can you guide me though the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I'm not very technical, but I think I'm ready. What
do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your
Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is
it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support: What programs are running ?

Customer: Let's see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and
Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your
current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will
no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low
Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you
have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent
Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness.
Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been
completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that
normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You
need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, "Error -
Program not run on external components." What should I do?

Tech Support: Don't worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run
on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical
terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files:
Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the "My Heart" directory. The system will
overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming. Also,
you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty
your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files. Smile
is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves
all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually
everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One
more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its
various modules to everyone you meet. They will in ! turn share it with
others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you.

What I've learnt

The best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person. When you're in love, it shows.Just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" makes my day.Having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world. Being kind is more important than being right. You should never say "no" to a gift from a child. I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.

No matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs afriend to act goofy with. Sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.Simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when Iwas a child did wonders for me as an adult. Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes. We should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for. Money doesn't buy class.Under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciatedand loved. The Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?Ignore the facts does not change the facts. When you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.Love, not time, heals all wounds.

The easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myselfwith people smarter than I am. Everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile. There's nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath on your cheeks. No one is perfect until you fall in love with them. Life is tough, but I'm tougher. Opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss. When you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.I wish I could have told my Dad that I love him one more time before he passed away. One should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow hemay have to eat them. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.I can't choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it. When your newly born child holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.

Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happinessand growth occurs while you're climbing it. It is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life threatening situation. The less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

Qoutes

We have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes. Charles Swindoll

Honeymoon Results..! ! !

A mother had 3 daughters. They were all getting married within a short time period. Because mom was a bit worried about how their sex lives would get started, she made them all promise to send a postcard from the honeymoon with a few words on how marital sex felt.

The first girl sent a card from Hawaii two days after the wedding. The card said nothing but "Nescafe." Mom was puzzled at first, but then went to the kitchen and got out the Nescafe jar. It said: "Good till the last drop." Mom blushed, but was pleased for her daughter.

The second girl sent the card from Vermont a week after the wedding, and the card read: "Benson & Hedges." Mom now knew to go straight to her husband's cigarettes, and she read from the Benson & Hedges pack: "Extra Long. King Size." She was again slightly embarrased but still happy for her daughter.

The third girl left for her honeymoon in the Caribbean. Mom waited for a week, nothing. Another week went by, and still nothing. Then after a whole month, a card finally arrived. Written on it with shaky handwriting were the words: "British Airways." Mom took out her latest Harper's Bazaar magazine, flipped through the pages fearing the worst, and finally found the ad for the airline. The ad said: "Three times a day, seven days a week, both ways." Mom fainted. ;pppp

The Message Of DEEPAVALI

According to the Vedic culture, the message of Tamaso ma jyotir gamaya (from darkness unto light) is given through the festival of Deepawali to all peoples of the world. During the night of Deepawali the myriads of little clay lamps (dias) seem to silently send forth Deepawali messages: Come let us remove darkness from the face of the earth. This is not the work to be done by one dia or by one individual. It requires collective effort. In the diffusion of light the question of high and low is forgotten. This is the lesson taught by both small and big dias.

The second message of the burning dias is to destroy the difference between rich and poor- the destruction of discrimination based on poverty and wealth. The burning dia, whether in a palatial bungalow or in a grass hut, is a symbol of this unity. The wall of separation based on economic status cannot prevent the penetration and spread of the light of the dia.

The third message of the burning diias of Deepawali is to kindle the extinguished lights of our neighbours. Let us find out what is needed- whether there is a shortage of wick or oil- and just by a little help the neighbour’s lamps can be lit. One dia can light several others. A little charity can bring joy to countless others. The row of lamps teach yet another lesson and that is of unity as exemplified in Satyam, Shivam Sundaram- Truth, Joy and Beauty.

The lights of Deepavali are displayed at the entrance doors, by the walls of houses, in the streets and lanes. This means that the inner spiritual light of the individual must be reflected outside. Passersby may thereby be prevented from stumbling on their way to reach their destination. The lights of the dias on earth beckon the lights in the firmaments to descend upon earth and establish the heavenly kingdom of God for the welfare of the human race. Feeding empty stomachs, lighting blown-out dias and providing cheer and joy amongst the downtrodden is to enter the true spirit of Deepavali. This is the true prayer to Lakshmi Devi.

HAPPY DEEPAVALI TO ALL INDIANS AND TO WHOM DOES CELEBRATE IT !!! :)

DEEPAVALI--- THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

The light reflected in the individual mind is the soul. The light reflected in the cosmic mind is the universal spirit. The microcosm and the macrocosm. Beyond both the individual and the cosmic is the one light of infinite spirit beyond name and form. The infinite consciousness is beyond all form and beyond all personality. This is the ultimate Reality.

For the ultimate Reality of infinite inner Consciousness, thebest symbol is light. The light of lights, the self-luminous inner light of the self is ever shining steadily in the chamber of your heart. Sit still, close the eyes, withdraw the senses. Fix the mind on this Supreme light and enjoy the real Deepavali, by attaining inner illumination. Wake up from the slumber of ignorance through meditation and self inquiry. Realise the constant and eternal light of the soul.

"The self is self luminous being pure Consciousness. The cognition of all objects arises from the light of pure Consciousness." -Brhadaranyaka Upanishad

May we attain perfect inner illumination. May the Supreme light of lights enlighten our understanding. May we attain the inexhaustible spiritual wealth of the eternal, all pervading Self. May we all prosper gloriously on the material as well as on the spiritual planes.

B-logger on pursue ?

Check out this article from ChannelNewsAsia on the charge imposed on two bloggers who posted a racist remark.

By Pearl Forss, Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE : Two bloggers have been charged with sedition for posting racist comments online. This is the first time bloggers are being charged in Singapore and it is sending shockwaves through the local blogging community. Lawyers say the last time the sedition act was invoked in Singapore was at least 10 years ago. Twenty-five-year-old Nicholas Lim Yew and 27-year-old Benjamin Koh Song Huat are being accused of posting racist comments on an online forum and on their blog site. They are both being charged with committing a seditious act, by promoting feelings of ill-will and hostility between races in Singapore. They were not represented by defence lawyers and were granted bail of S$10,000 each. This charge came as a shock to many in the blogging community. Said Singaporean blogger Benjamin Lee (Mr Miyagi):" A lot of them will be looking at their blogs and wondering if they made any legally seditious remarks. I think because of the way this will be played up, it's negative publicity for the Singapore blogging community." "Currently if you surf the net you will come across a lot of bloggers making such comments. You will probably see a drop in such cases henceforth. At the moment I am not aware of any cases except of a case in Iran where bloggers are charged. But Iran has a different legal system from Singapore," said Leonard Loo, managing partner of Leonard Loo & Co Advocates & Solicitors. Channel NewsAsia understands that the Media Development Authority had asked host servers to remove a racist blog from the web. Police are now investigating this matter. While many racist blogs by Singaporeans can be found online, the blogging community is also quick to criticize any racist comments. Channel NewsAsia has received many emails from viewers informing us about a few racist sites. Viewers said they were "appalled as well as disappointed that a Singaporean could condemn" other fellow Singaporeans of a different race. Lawyers warn that anybody who forwards seditious remarks to others via email can also be charged with abetment. The case is expected to be heard in court again on September 21. A person is deemed to have committed an offence under the Sedition Act if he performs any act which has a seditious tendency, or conspires with any person to do so. It is also an offence to utter any seditious words or to print, publish, sell, distribute, reproduce or import any seditious publication. First time offenders can be fined up to S$5,000, or jailed up to three years, or both. For subsequent offences, they can be jailed up to five years and have their seditious publications forfeited and destroyed. - CNA /ct/ls

Red Indian Names

A little Red Indian boy asked his father, the big chief and witch doctor of the tribe, "Papa, why is it that we always have long names, while the white men have shorter names - Bill, Tex or Sam, for example?" His father replied, "Look, son, our names represent a symbol, a sign,or a poem for our culture --not like the white men, who repeat their names from generation to generation. Also, it is part of our makeup that in spite of everything, we survive. For example, your sister's name is Small Romantic Moon Over The Lake, because on the night she was born, there was a beautiful moon reflected in the lake. Then there's your brother, Big White Horse of the Prairies, because he was born on a day that the big white horse who gallops over the prairies of the world appeared near our camp and is a symbol of our capacity to live and the life force of our people. It's very simple and easy to understand. Do you have any other questions, Little Broken Condom Made in China?"

WHAT DO YOU WANT ?!

IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT FROM LIFE, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU WILL GET?

The great majority of people in the world drift through life, never realizing that their future will be the one they create for themselves. The minority who achieve great success are people who know what they want and have a plan for realizing their objectives. They know what they want and how they are going to get it. Your goals should be specific, they should be measurable, they should have a deadline for their achievement, and they should be divided into manageable pieces. Know exactly what you plan to achieve, when you plan to achieve it, and how. Review your progress regularly, correct your course when necessary, and never, never give up.

So, what do you want ? :)

Am i DUMB ?!

Crowds seen like ants rushing for their daily schedule, part of them is for works, grocieries, schools, dating, etc ....Government officers and ministry with their luxuries cars crossing by the citizens who gave way to them. At one part of the city, inside a building, seem hundreds of peoples buying and selling their shares with a lot of arguments. Some with enjoyment of their raising share values and other's defending their declining shares.

At another part of the world....thousands if not millions are suffering without foods, engaged in terror, life sucking war's. Depending their losing govenrment, for dailly survivol. Begging for food, home, and a simple live.

Even at developed countries, there are certain part of it, filled with beggers and the less fortunate who is fighting for their lives. Whose respnsibilities is that, aren;t the government should take care of their citizens ? Or just let them begging and get indulged with negative habits such as thieves, house break-in and assasinations ?

What is happening here ? Is this an unbalance created by the human themself ? Why can't the rich help the poor ? What about the top politicians who does promise this and that but do nothing at last ? Where is the human aid role in here ? The organizations which suppose to aid the poor and needy ? Can there anything to be done for coping this situation ? At one part, a guy with endorsed luxury with him, another begging daily for one meal a day....whose fault is this ? the GOD or human ? And i'm sitting like a dumb writing this !!!

AUM and Essence of Sound.

The meaning of AUM.

Aum is not, in itself, the un-struck sound, but leads one to it. The mantra is composed of four elements. Three are vocal sounds: A, U, and M, while the fourth element is the silence which begins and ends the audible sound, the silence which supports it. The objective of intoning AUM is not only the mantra itself, but the experience of perceiving the unmade sound that supports it. This is the same as seeking the space which "supports" the universe and its galaxies : the "emptiness" or nothingness of space is necessary for the existence of everything seen and unseen.

City of Brahman

What is in the macrocosm is in this microcosm.

Within the city of Brahman, which is the body, there is the heart, and within the heart there is a little house.

This house has the shape of a lotus, and within it dwells that which is to be sought after, inquired about, and realized.

What then is that which, dwelling within this little house, this lotus of the heart, is to be sought after, inquired about, and realized?

As large as the universe outside, even so large is the universe within the lotus of the heart.

Within it are heaven and earth, the sun, the moon, the lightning, and all the stars.

What is in the macrocosm is in this microcosm.

-Chandogya Upanishad

In a Universe of Oneness, death is Impossible

Bell's Theorem suggests that conscious human activity influences the behaviour of subatomic particles in actual laboratory experiments.

The view of ourselves as independent objects that are isolated from the universe we inhabit is erroneous. We cannot distance ourselves from the universe because of our oneness with it.
